Cricket World Cup

We enjoyed very much in our room. We had big fights , broke cots, played cricket etc. and during the world cup, we had FM radio with us and we listened to live commentary. Teja used to wake up the whole night and listen to the commentary. As the world cup was going on in west indies all the matches were scheduled at night. And Teja used to get the lost sleep in YM sir’s class and ajit’s class. In the starting matches itself, I remember India lost to a non test playing nation(I don’t remember the country’s name), and that day Teja cried. We had to give him a towel to wipe his tears. He cried and cried. Someone laughed and he cried even more. He scolded everyone of us that we were no patriots and that we don’t love our country. He says that the only way of expressing love for a country is to cry for it when it doesn’t get the world cup …huh…. we were laughing at him. We couldn’t understand why he was so serious about cricket. That day he told us how much he loved cricket and how bad he felt when his dad didn't send him for playing cricket in the next town. He was the captain of his school team and at the last moment he opted out of the team sorting a pain in the leg. That was not the actual reason. It was all because of his dad's fear of sending him to a new place. While saying these we had to give him another towel. He was crying and crying. And the next night too he was awake this time for pakistan’s match. And you won't believe, he woke us up, everyone in the room by shouting aloud and laughing. He was shouting “Pakistan lost… hurray…”.“Lost to whom?”, harsha asked drowsily half asleep. ”Ireland”, teja said. “What???????”, we all exclaimed together.” Really man, that guys cant make it to super sixes too and now Ireland makes it to next round”. We couldn’t believe ourselves. Teja was running in the corridor shouting that Pakistan had lost. He received response from a few rooms saying “idiot!! go and sleep. We know.. we too have FM”. But Teja was in no mood to get bothered by them.. he explained us the way Pakistan had lost the game. That some ‘James’ of Ireland taking 3 important wickets. After many days we saw him laughing so much and we were very happy for that.
